Charlotte Black

Call: 2006

Wilberforce Chambers

Practice Overview

Charlotte's practice covers the main areas of Chambers' work. She has particular experience for her call in the fields of property, private client, especially contentious probate and trusts, and professional liability. She also has significant experience of commercial disputes. She enjoys acting in her own right and as a junior to other members of chambers in larger cases. Charlotte has acted in disputes involving a wide range of clients from companies, to members of the same family, to charities, to sole traders, to neighbours, and understands the particular needs and sensitivities of each.

Charlotte thrives on appearing in court, and is regularly in both the County and High Courts. She has also acted in a number of mediations. In Chambers, Charlotte spends her time drafting proceedings and advising clients either in writing, in person or over the telephone. She strives always to be clear, comprehensive and approachable in her style, and to keep in mind both practicality and commercial reality when advising.

Qualifications

Charlotte read philosophy at Cambridge University, where she also rowed for Cambridge against Oxford in the boat race. She went on to obtain a distinction in the Graduate Diploma in Law at City University, before completing the BVC in which she was graded 'outstanding' in advocacy, negotiation, civil procedure and professional ethics. She was awarded the Chrystal Macmillan prize by the Middle Temple for her performance in the BVC. Charlotte is also a Queen Mother Scholar and Hardwick Entrance Exhibitioner of Middle Temple.
