Practice Overview

Edward has a broad practice spanning the chancery and commercial fields. He has particular experience of large scale litigation and advisory work relating to trusts, commercial disputes, pensions, financial services and civil fraud. He has appeared as advocate in tribunals of all levels up to and including the Court of Appeal. 

Edward's cases frequently encompass issues of breach of trust and fiduciary duty, contractual disputes, pensions and pensions regulation, company law, conflicts of law, professional negligence, corporate fraud, partnership, FSMA, asset tracing and associated interim remedies such as freezing injunctions and Bankers Trust orders. 

In recent years, much of Edward's time has been spent working on cases with an international element as part of multi-jurisdictional legal teams. He has spent considerable periods working on complex trusts litigation in the Cayman Islands.

Edward also undertakes litigation and advisory work in the fields of insolvency, real property, landlord and tenant, and probate and trusts. He acts for clients ranging from large international businesses to private individuals, and is particularly aware of the need for a pragmatic but careful approach appropriate to the scale of the dispute.

Qualifications

Edward was a scholar of Lincoln College, Oxford, where he obtained one of the best First Class degrees in his year in Modern History. He achieved the highest mark in his year on both the CPE law conversion course and the Bar Vocational Course. He is a Queen Mother Scholar of the Middle Temple and was awarded the Eldon Law Scholarship by Oxford University.

Publications

Edward has written various articles on aspects of chancery practice and has also edited the Real Property section of Butterworths' Civil Court Precedents.
