Practice Area CVs
Practice Overview
Gabriel has a wide-ranging practice encompassing most aspects of property, commercial, and "modern chancery' litigation. He is particularly interested in fraud-related cases, and much of his work has an international flavour. Gabriel also appears regularly before the county courts, where he has established a reputation as a fair but hard-hitting advocate.
Much of Gabriel's work cuts across traditionally-defined disciplines, and as a result he is often praised for his ability to ‘think outside the box'. Gabriel is often instructed in matters before the family courts, particularly in relation to allegations of ‘sham trusts' and other property/trust-related elements of matrimonial (including Children Act) disputes.
Gabriel is fluent in French. Prior to joining Wilberforce, he spent three months working at Simpson Grierson, solicitors in New Zealand.
Professional Reputation
Gabriel is listed in The Legal 500 as a 'leading junior' in relation to his civil fraud practice. He has also been commended in various publications for his real property work, The Lawyer magazine referring to him as one of the 'stars of the Junior Bar'.
