Wilberforce Chambers

Practice Overview

Jonathan specialises in property litigation and professional negligence arising out of it. He has acted in a large number of the most high-profile property litigation and professional negligence cases.

In recent years, Jonathan has successfully extended his property and professional liability qualifications by developing a busy mediation practice.

Jonathan is extremely popular not just for his ability to work hard and deliver work swiftly and accurately but also for his skills in winning the confidence and settling the nerves of all types of client.

Jonathan is strongly of the view that technical excellence in legal matters should be taken for granted: what makes the difference in terms of a successful lawyer are abilities on top of those - the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a client and in particular to understand the commercial objectives; the ability to think strategically about how to counter the move that the enemy is going to make next; and, ultimately, the ability to persuade the court to do something that it wouldn't otherwise do.

Professional Reputation

Jonathan is highly recommended in the legal directories, Chambers & Partners, 2007 says that 'he is an "impressive courtroom advocate", with "extreme cleverness and creativity". In November 2007 Jonathan was named as Chambers & Partners 'Real Estate Silk of the Year'.'

The Legal 500 says that 'he is "an excellent fighter, a first-class tactician and is highly responsive and commercial". It has also said that Jonathan's "easy manner belies a sharp tactical mind which is much in demand".'

In 2009 The Legal 500 directory said that Jonathan "runs rings round people in Court".
