Practice Overview
Martin has a broad practice encompassing all aspects of property law both contentious and non-contentious and professional liability relating to property matters.
He has particular experience in commercial landlord & tenant matters, including business tenancies; substantial dilapidation claims; insolvency-related lease issues; and consent for alienation. Although he has a largely court-based practice, he has substantial experience of alternative dispute resolution and advising in non-contentious property transactions, including in relation to restrictive covenants, overage and development agreements.
Martin has numerous reported cases, covering the whole range of property work, including most recently Alchemy Estates v Astor [2009] (rescission of land contract) and Funding Corporation v Lexi Holdings [2008] (mortgage fraud).

Martin is recommended in The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners for property litigation.

Qualifications
Martin Hutchings read Modern History at St. Catherine's College, Oxford before being called to the Bar in 1986.
Martin joined Wilberforce Chambers in 2006 after 15 years at 199 Strand.
