Emily particularly enjoys the aspects of her practice involving general commercial litigation, including commercial fraud and contractual disputes.
Cases in which Emily has recently been involved include:
- Representing the Claimants in a multi-million pound contractual and restitutionary claim relating to the provision of services to facilitate a £173 million investment (with John Wardell QC).
- Providing advice to a major port authority against the background of ongoing litigation concerning its financial obligations to a pension scheme (with Timothy Howe QC).
- Acting for a landed estate in a claim concerning commercial premises in central London (with Jonathan Seitler QC).
- Acting for the defendant solicitor in litigation concerning allegations of dishonesty in the management of a property investment company.
- Advising a private education-provider in relation to its contractual rights under commercial agreements governing the provision of academic qualifications.
- Advising a bridging-loan provider on the legal aspects of its commercial transactions, including the meaning and effect of its standard for loan documentation.
- Acting for the Pensions Regulator in relation to prohibition proceedings brought against a pensions trustee relating to his involvement in commercial transactions involving the acquisition of a private equity company of two national corporate groups with potentially valuable pension schemes (with Michael Tennet QC and Jonathan Hilliard).
- Acting for two major financial institutions in defence to claims for investment mis-selling.
