Jonathan has experience of dealing with a range of pension related matters, including complaints to the Pensions Ombudsman. In his capacity as counsel to the Crown (B-Panel), he has been instructed by the Department for Work and Pensions on a number of occasions. Jonathan is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers.

Recent/notable cases include:

• Advising government department in respect of proper construction of provisions of public sector pension scheme (2010)
  
  
• Acting for Pensions Ombudsman as defendant in a claim for Judicial Review (2010).
  
  
• Acting for defendant occupational pension scheme trustees in proceedings concerning the alleged sale of corporate assets at an undervalue (2009).
  
  
• Acting for independent trustee of an occupational pension scheme in proceedings to recover assets transferred out of the scheme to a former trustee (with Robert Ham QC) (2008).
  
  
• Advising employee on breach of trust claim in respect of occupational pension scheme trustees' decision regarding ill health pension (2007).
