Regulatory & Public Law CV 

Jonathan does a significant amount of regulatory work, both for UK regulatory bodies (particularly in the pensions sphere, where he has acted for the Pensions Regulator, Pension Protection Fund and DWP). These cases often involve public law and related issues. Recent examples including the following:

• Acting (with Michael Tennet QC) for insurers in relation to multi £bn inherited estate issues.
  
  
• Instructed in a number of important pieces of regulatory litigation involving the Pensions Regulator under their new regulatory powers (the terms of which are at present confidential) (led by Brian Green QC, Michael Tennet QC and Raquel Agnello QC respectively).
  
  
• Independent Trustee Services v GP Noble & others (ongoing) - acting for trustees in international asset recovery claims against 20 odd defendants - a number of whom are based in Thailand, Australia, and in offshore jurisdictions, arising out of alleged fraud and imprudent investment by former trustees (led by Richard Spearman QC) - listed for 15 day trial. Recent interlocutory application - [2009] EWHC 161 (Ch) - dealt with operation of SFO restraint orders under POCA.
  
  
• Advised in relation to operation of Isle of Man Depositors Compensation Scheme.
  
  
• Acted for defendant in fraud claim alleging manifold breaches of FSMA.
