Wilberforce Chambers

Property CV

Jonathan's success in property litigation is marked by the fact that there are many real estate institutions who instruct and re-instruct him on a regular basis. Berkeley Homes, WH Smith, Crown Estate, Bovis Homes, Shell UK, Legal & General - the list of household names which constitute his regular clients is a long one.

Jonathan has appeared in a large number of substantial property litigation claims, especially in relation to rent reviews, consent to assign and cases relating to the termination of leases, whether by surrender, forfeiture or the exercise of a break clause.

In 2008 and 2009 Jonathan was involved in much of the high profile ‘credit crunch' litigation which involved property developers seeking to wriggle out of agreements entered into in the previous year. Disputes in relation to Walbrook EC4 v Metrovacesa and advice in connection with the assignment of Orchid pub leases are some examples of the high profile matters in which Jonathan has been involved arising out of the recession.

Jonathan has been involved in too many high profile property cases to list, at first instance, in the Court of Appeal and in the House of Lords, but they include the following:
