Julian regularly undertakes professional liability work and has considerable trial experience in this field. Much of this work concerns allegations claim in relation to the conduct of property transactions by solicitors and other property-related negligence, but his professional liability work extends to all aspects of the legal professions and financial professionals.

Recent/notable cases include:

• Acting for the successful claimant at trial in a claim against a solicitor for acquisition of a secret profit in breach of fiduciary duty - Cobbetts LLP v Hodge [2009] EWHC 786 (Ch).
  
  
• Appearing for the claimant at trial in a third generation loss of chance claim for damages for the allegedly negligent conclusion of a settlement by a solicitor - Nicholson v Knox Ukiwa [2008] PNLR 33.
  
  
• Acting for the defendant financial adviser in a claim relating to the alleged mis-selling of a derivative based investment product (2008).
  
  
• Appearing for the successful defendant at trial in a claim brought against it for negligent financial advice in relation to a share portfolio - Woollard v Rensburg Sheppards Investment Management Limited (2006).
  
  
• Regularly advising and acting for firms and LLPs in disputes with partners and former partners, particularly disputes relating to post-partnership restrictive covenants. Julian has advised clients across a broad range of professions: solicitors, medical professionals, and property professionals.
  
  
• Advising and acting regularly in claims for negligence arising out of the conduct of commercial lease renewals under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 and leasehold enfranchisement claims under the 1967 and 1993 Acts.
