Anna Carboni becomes 'appointed person'
29/10/2007
Wilberforce Chambers were pleased to announce the Lord Chancellor's appointment of Anna Carboni as an Appointed Person under the Trade Marks Act 1994.
As an Appointed Person, Carboni will hear appeals from the Trade Marks Registry, as an alternative to an appeal to a High Court judge. Her appointment will boost the number of people in the post from four to five for the first time, in preparation for the expected increase in appeals from the Registry following recent changes in the Trade Mark Rules.
Head of Chambers, Jules Sher QC says:
'This is great news, both for Anna and for Wilberforce. It shows how successful her move to the Bar has been, and will further enhance both her and Chambers' standing in the intellectual property field.'
Carboni comments:
'I am delighted and honoured to have been appointed to this position. There have been a lot of interesting developments in trade marks recently, so I am particularly looking forward to being involved in the decision-making process.'
Carboni joined Wilberforce Chambers in 2003, after a 'first career' as a solicitor and IP partner at Linklaters. She has been an intellectual property lawyer for nearly 20 years, with particular focus on trade marks and designs.
