Practice Overview

Judith has an extensive trust litigation and advisory practice.  She combines excellent analytic abilities with a practical approach, and is valued for her clear explanations and client-friendly manner.  She frequently advises trustees on the variation of trusts, the scope and exercise of trustee powers, and trust administration generally.  In addition, she has substantial experience of a broad range of chancery law, acting in cases relating to the validity, construction and rectification of wills and the administration of estates (including family provision cases), co-ownership disputes, charities and Court of Protection work.  She also acts in professional negligence claims relating to trusts and estates.

Judith qualified as a mediator in 2011 and has since acted as mediator in a wide range of cases in the chancery field, including claims involving testamentary capacity, breach of contract, negligence, administration of estates, co-ownership of property, and a directors’ dispute.

Judith is consistently ranked as a ‘leading junior’ in Chambers and Partners for ‘Chancery Traditional’, and in The Legal 500 for ‘Private Client: trusts and probate’.

In the current editions she is “recommended for Variation of Trusts Act applications” (The Legal 500, 2016) and described as “very easy with the clients as she’s approachable, empathetic and down-to-earth” and “very nice to work with, very calm and someone who gives very clear advice” (Chambers and Partners, 2017).

Previous editions describe her as an “exceptional”, “bright” and “impressive” junior, who is “excellent at complex trust drafting” bringing “great technical skill” and a “thorough and practical approach to problem solving”.  She is “absolutely a safe pair of hands”, “very pragmatic and measured in her advice” and “user-friendly”.
