Profile
2006 - 2011: Head of Finance & Administration
2000 - 2006: Fees Clerk/Senior Fees Clerk to Chambers
1998 - 2000: Hardwicke Building
1993 - 1998: Lord Chancellor's Department (now the DCA)
John was promoted to Deputy Chief Executive in March 2011 in order to concentrate on developing strategies and business planning for Chambers and formally deputising for Declan in ensuring the effective management of chambers in his absence. In more general terms he also retains responsibility for ensuring the efficient day-to-day functioning of all of the non-clerking areas in chambers, including chambers' financial and fee collection systems.
Following completion of his A-Levels, John began his career in an administrative role within (what was then) the Lord Chancellor's Department, progressing to the junior manager grade in the Judicial Appointments Division. He initially moved into clerking at a well known common law set, before being appointed chambers' first ever fees clerk in early 2000. In early 2006, he successfully amalgamated management of the previously separate roles of finance and administration and fees clerking, shortly after completing a part-time chambers' sponsored degree in management science from London University in which he attained first class honours.
John is a member of the LPMA and the Institute of Directors.
Outside of chambers John enjoys running - having completed his first (and possibly last) London Marathon in 2009 - swimming and generally keeping active, as well as the often even more exhausting task of keeping his two children entertained.
