Global Restructuring Review Awards 2019 – Litigation Nomination

We are delighted to have been nominated by Global Restructuring Review in the category of “Most significant restructuring or insolvency-related litigation” for our work on Ahmad Hamad Algosaibi & Brothers (AHAB) v Al-Sanea & Ors. The court described this case as potentially one of the largest Ponzi schemes in history.

Tom Lowe QC and Jack Watson of Wilberforce Chambers successfully acted for SIFCO 5, one of the defendants, at trial (read more here), and were instructed by a Harneys team led by William Peake.

The case is currently on appeal (21st May 2019 for six weeks) and John Wardell QC of Wilberforce Chambers has been retained to act on behalf of the appellant, instructed by Andrew Ford of Lipman Karas LLP and a Mourant team led by Peter Hayden. Tom Lowe QC and Jack Watson represent the respondents (SIFCO 5) on the appeal, instructed by Harneys and William Peake.

The GRR Awards celebrate all the best cross-border restructuring and insolvency developments, people and places that made waves in the practice area between March 2018 and March 2019.
