Join us on the evening of Tuesday 21st November 2023 for ‘Investigations brought to life!’. Hear from leading practitioners as they share their advice, experiences and anecdotes. Our expert panel brings you key legal and practical considerations to help you navigate the investigatory landscape and make best use of the procedural and tactical tools available to you.

Speakers:

Caroline Greenwell (Charles Russell Speechlys): Caroline is a Partner in the commercial disputes and fraud team, who has substantial experience in complex, high profile and multijurisdictional disputes, and financial crime investigations. The disputes she acts on typically involve breaches of contract and misrepresentations, tortious / wrongful acts, civil fraud and asset tracing, and / or allegations of bribery and corruption; and regularly involve the need for injunctive relief which she has great experience in obtaining.

Rhys Novak (Charles Russell Speechlys): Rhys is a dispute resolution specialist with a broad-based disputes practice, advising both companies and individuals on commercial, corporate and financial services disputes. He also has a particular specialism in running and advising on internal investigations and stand-alone advisory work concerning suspected economic crimes such as bribery, fraud, money laundering and sanctions.

Charlotte Pender (Charles Russell Speechlys)Charlotte advises on complex, high-value litigation with both domestic and international elements. She has experience of a broad range of commercial disputes but with particular expertise in the fields of civil fraud, asset tracing, freezing and recovery and shareholder disputes. Whilst Charlotte is an experienced trial lawyer she also has experience in the resolution of disputes by way of arbitration and mediation.

Tim Penny KC (Wilberforce Chambers)Tim has particular expertise in commercial fraud cases, many of which have an international flavour and involve cross-border issues such as jurisdiction disputes, anti-suit injunctions and foreign law considerations. He has excellent knowledge of search orders and worldwide freezing orders. These cases often involve cross-examination on asset disclosure, contempt of court applications and without notice applications testing the boundaries of the court’s jurisdiction to ensure that assets are eventually available for the enforcement of judgments or arbitral awards.

Jack Watson (Wilberforce Chambers)Jack has extensive experience of civil fraud, asset recovery, insolvency and company and partnership disputes as well as associated regulatory and financial services issues. Jack is also has particular experience in relation to the overlap between fraud claims and insolvency. Jack regularly accepts instructions on a wide range of matters where trusts are involved, such as trust claims arising out of fraud, breach of fiduciary duty or other cases involving asset tracing.
