The “roly-poly goalie”

David Phillips QC recently chaired a FA Regulatory Commission hearing disciplinary charges against Wayne Shaw – the “roly-poly goalie”.  Mr Shaw had been charged with influencing a Sun betting market – the bet being whether he would eat a pie during Sutton FC’s FA Cup match against Arsenal FC on 20 February 2017.

The charge was found to be proved and regulatory sanctions were imposed.  A press report can be found here: The written reasons are at https://goo.gl/gpBBLV
