Practice overview

Allison joined Wilberforce in October 2025 following the successful completion of her pupillage. Allison is developing a broad commercial chancery practice. During pupillage, she gained experience across the full range of Chambers’ practice areas. Allison is happy to be instructed as sole counsel or as part of a team. She has appeared unled in the High Court and County Court.

Before joining Wilberforce, Allison received a first class degree in law from the London School of Economics, where she ranked second in her cohort and won multiple top-of-class subject prizes. She went on to complete the Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) at the University of Oxford. Allison also taught Property II (trusts) at the London School of Economics prior to commencing pupillage.

Allison is fluent in Mandarin.

Commercial

  • Confidential: Acting for the respondent in a nine-figure LCIA arbitration concerning a gas field (led by Stephen Brown)
  • Assisting Alice Hawker in advising on the merits of a potential group claim for breach of contract and breach of consumer protection regulations (during pupillage)
  • Assisting Tim Matthewson in a dispute concerning the alleged termination of a consultancy agreement (during pupillage)

Property

  • Acting in a dispute concerning the enforcement of a mortgage over a £45 million property, involving issues such as the beneficial ownership of the property, regulated mortgage contracts and penalty clauses (led by Alice Hawker)
  • Acted as sole counsel for the defendant in a one-day trial concerning a claim for statutory compensation and a defence of set-off against rent arrears, including cross-examination
  • Acted as sole counsel for the debtor in a mortgage possession claim involving a loan facility worth £1.2 million
  • Acted as sole counsel in a one-day hearing in the First Tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) concerning a dispute over service charges, including cross-examination
  • Assisting Alice Hawker in a six-day trial to enforce a £50 million mortgage facility involving issues of collateral contract and promissory estoppel, and a counterclaim for £5 million arising from allegations of unjust enrichment (during pupillage)

Insolvency

  • Successfully acted as sole counsel for the debtor in an application to set aside a statutory demand, raising an issue concerning the release of joint and several liability

Trusts, probate, and estates

  • Assisting James Goodwin in a multibillion-dollar commercial trusts dispute concerning a contested distribution of trust assets to the settlor-beneficiary (during pupillage)
  • Assisting James Goodwin in resisting a proprietary injunction in a dispute over the beneficial ownership of three properties (during pupillage)

Civil Fraud

  • Assisting James Goodwin in a multi-jurisdictional fraud dispute involving allegations of deceit, forgery, and misappropriation of assets (during pupillage)
  • Assisting Alice Hawker in advising on the merits of a claim for deceit in respect of a supply agreement worth c £14 million (during pupillage)
  • Drafting pleadings in a fraud claim involving claims for fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of trust, unjust enrichment, knowing receipt and dishonest assistance (during pupillage, with Tim Matthewson)
  • Drafting pleadings in a mortgage fraud claim against conveyancing solicitors for negligence, breach of trust, and breach of undertaking (during pupillage, with Alice Hawker)

Professional liability

  • Drafting pleadings for a claim for loss of chance damages arising out of negligent advice given in respect of an option agreement (with Emer Murphy, during pupillage)

Pensions

  • Assisting James McCreath in advising on the validity of a deed of amendment to a pension scheme (during pupillage)
