Bertie joined Chambers in October 2026 following successful completion of his pupillage. During pupillage he gained experience across the range of Chambers’ areas of work and is now building a broad commercial Chancery practice. Bertie is happy to be instructed as sole counsel or as part of a team.

In 2024 Bertie graduated with a First-Class BA in Jurisprudence with Senior Status from Harris Manchester College, Oxford. Bertie received the Law Faculty Prizes for the best performance in Contract Law and Constitutional Law.

Before his legal studies Bertie graduated in 2021 with a First-Class BA in Spanish and Russian from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. Bertie received the Foundation Scholarship for achieving a First-Class result in every academic year.

Before coming to the Bar, Bertie gained diverse experience in the legal services sector. He worked for six months in a Barcelona law firm as an assistant to one of the founding partners (a dual-qualified English solicitor and Spanish lawyer), and gained experience of commercial and private-client work. Bertie later worked in an administrative role in conveyancing at Trowers and Hamlins LLP, where he developed his interest in property law.
